This article for me, explains how funny people are. I think Nietzsche describes the world in a way that makes the most sense, that our will is to power. The fundamental instinct of every single living thing is to grow, spread, and predominate. This goes against Social Darwinism that our will is to survive. If that were the case, you might as well put us in the same class as rocks. If the world stopped, we would all suffer from anxiety. To me, it underestimates us. We actually transcend just surviving everyday. I mean, you've got people who go fight in wars because they create amazing value in their convictions. People love other people to the point it drives them crazy. I don't entirely believe in evolution since we're not too much different from civilizations centuries ago. Maybe technology has made some discoveries like cars, new machines, and Internet technology, but they only take us to the same problems faster.
To me it's funny that we have speed limits so we are forced to slow down and protect us from our overwhelming ambition to grow and feel like we are progressing in some way. Now the Internet has higher bandwidths that allow us to connect with people from all across the world. But what have we learned, to me it seems we see ourselves on the other end staring at us. I mean, didn't the pyramids pop up from different countries around the same time periods (don't hold me to it, I heard it from a friend). We have cell phones that allow us to talk to more people all the time, but in my case, I never pick-up for unknown numbers, only people on my contact list, and most of the conversations go, "Hey, how are you doing? Good, how are you doing? Good. Good!"
So, when I read this article, I don't see it as a charitable act like I felt he was trying to portray. He's handicap as well by believing he is saving people that he in fact reinforces as handicap, probably unintentionally. By writing this article, I think he is doing more harm for those he supposedly knows much about. It's more as a tool to reinforce his status in the world as a living, growing being. He declares his status many times as much superior to both the handicap and ignorants. There's nothing wrong with it in my opinion since we all participate in this act in some way or another, myself included, it's actually really fun, I'm probably doing it right now.
I've enjoyed a lot of the work and readings throughout the course because of the unique concepts of web/graphic design to display "history." Maybe it proves that history isn't really history, it's just a single ongoing moment we're trying to keep up with. We're finding out ways to rejuvenate old, worn-out photographs. In order for these images to be displayed, a value has to be created for them, and we feel that this dying image that represents our value of the world, is something nobody wants to witness (since it's our imminent death?).
I think we're all handicap. We lose sight of our own capabilities to the point that we create so-called "handicap" people.
